Bruna Naitana - Shardana Yoga Ashraya

I was born in a small town in Sardinia, Italy, on March 5th, 1969. In 1996 I completed my degree in Visual Arts at the University of Bologna and moved to London where I worked first in a public museum then in a prestigious commercial art gallery. In 1998 I took my first Iyengar yoga class. In 2002 I and embarked on my first long trip to India. From then on yoga became part of my life. In 2004 I decided to give up my career in the Arts to devote my time entirely to yoga. In 2005 I went on a second six month trip to India to further my study of yoga with internationally renowned teachers, most notably Rajiv and Swati Chanchani. During this trip I had my first brief encounter with Guruji (BKS Iyengar). In 2006 I applied for the teacher training at the Iyengar Yoga Institute of Maida Vale, London and enrolled on a Sanskrit course at SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies). This gave me the opportunity to approach the classical texts on Yoga and the Sacred Indian Scriptures in their original language. In 2008 I went on another trip to India and had my second encounter with Guruji to seek his blessing for my practice. The same year I completed the second year of Sanskrit and gained the Introductory II Certificate. On January 7th, 2009 Shardana Yoga Ashraya was founded to spread the teachings of Yogacharya Shri BKS Iyengar throughout Sardinia. I return annually to India to study at the mother institute in Pune at the feet of my Guru.

I am a teacher member of the Iyengar Yoga Association in the United Kingdom http://www.iyengaryoga.org.uk/profile/4776.

My deepest gratitude to BKS Iyengar, my Guru, and all my teachers and trainers for guiding me on this path. The credit for all that is good in my teaching and practice goes to them. Any mistake that I may make, voluntarily and involuntarily, comes from me alone.
